Notes: Originally produced as an American motion picture in 1957.
Sleepwear, a labor dispute, and singing come together for perhaps the first and only time in film history in The Pajama Game. In a small Iowa town, the main employer is the SleepTite Pajama Company, where the mostly female workforce is demanding a badly needed 7 1/2 cent-an-hour pay increase. Competing firms wages have already gone up, so why not theirs? Babe, the headstrong leader of the workers' Union stages a garment factory showdown with management, represented in person by the new factory superintendent Sid. When a work slowdown gets no results, Babe stops the machinery, and Sid has to fire her. They were falling in love, but since he's management and she's labor, can that ever work? Featuring members of the original Broadway cast (Doris Day was not in the original cast).

Notes: 1776 is a delightful musical celebration of the founding of The United States of America. The story centers around the familiar historical characters as they organize a movement for independence from Mother England. All events lead up to that most significant date, July 4, 1776, when the Declaration of Independence was signed. This is the DVD "restored" version which runs ca. 166 minutes -- longer than the theatrical release cut, yet shorter than the laserdisc "restored" version.
DVD, Region 1 encoding.
English soundtrack; optional English or French subtitles; closed-captioned for the hearing impaired.

Notes: In 1929, there were few critics of a stock market seeming to rise without limits. In fact, presidents and economists alike confidently predicted that America would soon enter a "new Era" when everyone would be rich. Instead, the rich got richer, and ultimately the promise of a permanent economic boom disappeared almost overnight, when the consequences of a decade of market speculation and manipulation came to bear. Includes interviews with participants, historians, and economists, and film clips of the stock market experience.
